Sad Loss Due to the Greed of the Landlords
Dear Lanna Thai customers,
To All Our Wonderful Customers, As you all now might be aware on Monday 13th Feb the restaurant was forcibly closed by the Landlords James Van Oppen and Martin Owen.
As the Thai partner in the Lanna I was inspired to write an answer to the recent review in Tripadvisor as below. To me it is a tragic waste and a sad loss due to the greed of the landlords. The week before we closed they were offered by me 10 K rent in advance, they however had there own agenda. They refused to understand the restaurant was in a very difficult position, hiding at the end of the Curve, no traffic flow due to the farcical road layout, a relentless concerted assault by the traffic wardens both on myself and our customers in a completely empty street, in a often completely deserted end of town. However the Landlords could just see us making it work, to do what we did in in a year is a miracle, they couldn’t wait.
I’m the person who gave the name Lanna thai restaurant because this is my home town . Lanna is the historical name of Chaingmai second city of Thailand. A restaurant is not easy to set up, I did everything with my own hand. Buy equipment for kitchen, buy decorations direct from Thailand, I used my own imagination and Thai experience to create a true Thai experience of how I like to sit and relax and eat. Every dish I try to use combinations meat and vegetable in my own style.I really care about the food I am serving to my customers. All the Chefs had been trained by me in a special unique way. I was always in kitchen with my mum when I was young, my mum gave me all her secrets in cooking passed down through the generations . All my regular customers who followed us call me” Lanna” , because they think that is my name.
I am heartbroken that the landlords have stole everything from me my intellect, all my flowers, my the beautiful Magenta staff uniforms which I designed and had made in Thailand, all my personal pieces of furniture, my menu ( the joke is the new chefs don’t know how to cook it) all my own cooking utensils pots and pans etc, all the food in the fridges, all the drink stock, the personnel computers etc etc .One thing they cant steal is my Knowledge.
The landlords through sheer greed have destroyed a true Bhuddist Paradise.

The Review from Tripadvisor that inspired me to write thank you Dimec99
Visited this restaurant with family after a matinee at the Curve theatre. We were surprised to find it open again having read about its closure on the website, and, as it had been recommended by friends under the old management, we thought we would give it a try - bad idea!
We were impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and the welcome we received from the manager, who explained that he had opened the restaurant at very short notice and was hoping to make a success of it.
We ordered different dishes from the pre/post theatre menu, which sounded good value, but how disappointed we were when the food arrived. The sauces themselves were quite palatable but the meat in both dishes was absolutely dreadful. The chicken tasted as if it had been reheated and, seemed to consist of all the revolting pieces one would normally dispose of. The pork was full of fat.
I had considered writing to the manager, who I felt was banging his head against a brick wall trying to make a success of the business when the food was so poor. It seemed such a shame when the surroundings were so pleasant for it to be let down by the food.
